5/8 Piattellini Bass sitting upright

This is Helen’s second copy of the 5/8 Alvisio Piattellini, ca. 1791, and it is her finest work yet. Helen again used pine from the 1785 house but this time a wall board (with wings.) Offered by Sonksen Strings in Chicago, Illinois for $36,000

  • 5/8 size

  • Black Cherry back, sides and scroll

  • One-piece White Pine slab top

  • 39-1/2” String length

  • Gaiatone (an ebony alternative) fingerboard, saddle and nut

  • Taconic Series

This bass was part of the Celebrating Women Luthiers International Exhibit 2024.
