Robert Black(1956-2023) purchased this bass in 2001 from Robbie after he restored it. Labeled “Salvadore de Durro” and most likely was made c. 1930 in Germany for export. Except for some minor edge repair done in 2025 this bass hasn’t needed any work since its restoration in 1999. Comes with a Mooradian soft case.
As per Robert Black’s wishes all proceeds of this sale will go to the Robert Black Foundation to promote aspiring bass players through grants to organizations that include Bang on a Can, International Society of Bassists, New Music on Point, Network for New Music, Moab Music Festival, Quattro Puntos, and the Millay Arts Foundation.
