Made from all locally sourced woods: cottonwood carved back and sides, the top wood is eastern white pine floorboards from a local house built in 1785, and the neck is sugar maple. This bass has a warm and projecting tone from top to bottom and is very easy to play. It was entered into the makers competition at the 2023 ISB Convention at University of Michigan and won a Silver Medal for Tone.
This is Helen’s first handmade bass, built in the Winter and Spring of 2023. She took it apart again in the Fall of 2025, thinned the top and back and reshaped the neck to improve projection and resonance.
